Massa Marittima: Gem of the Colline Metallifere

Only 20 kilometers from Agriturismo Capracotta is Massa Marittima, a captivating town rich in historical, artistic, and cultural landmarks. The Cathedral of San Cerbone, dating back to the 12th century, stands out with its Romanesque and Gothic influences. Inside, its three naves are divided by travertine columns topped with finely sculpted Corinthian and classical capitals.
Near Massa Marittima is Lake Accesa, a spot not only for swimming but also featuring the remains of an Etruscan settlement (necropolis and habitation) tied to the area’s mineral deposits. Artifacts found are housed in the Archaeological Museum of Massa Marittima.
